Episode 54: Sometimes the Room Gets Dusty

(ooops I never published this!  Trying again for the first time! #hugs)

Congratulations to Nerdist for 301 awesome episodes. Nerdist Industries is a huge influence on me. The Nerdist Way has been a real inspiration for everything I have done in 2012. I am still working on helping them out in anyway I can. I’m still working towards getting a job there. I am eternally grateful to Trevor for giving me a real honest to goodness avatar/icon! I feel like a legit podcast!

Episode 51B: You Gotta BE!

Originally I was going to name this episode: I’m telling you guys, it’s not a cult! But I listened to the Nerdist Episode “Microwave Beef.” They were talking about Chris’ birthday party. Jonah’s go to karaoke song is “You gotta be.” I have not heard this song in ages but I have no been able to keep it out of my head. So I recorded it. Yes I included it on this episode. YOU are welcome. This is my craziest episode to date. I apologize for rambling but hopefully you have fun listening!

Thank you for listening! Remember, do not give up what you want most for what you want right now!

Larry Miller returns in 2013—-if the Myans were wrong! But we all know they were!

Opening Theme is “Open up wide” performed by the 2008 URI Marching Band. The closing theme is “Do it anyway” by Ben Folds Five.

Here is the Related Media episode I was talking about:

Episode 48: I'm sorry Chris Hardwick

This podcast was recorded on my way to New Hampshire.  I am not sure what posting this reveals about myself.  Am I so desperate for attention that I kill my favorite bit by Chris Hardwick?

The good news is that I don’t have to actually ever see him again.  I seriously doubt that he’ll show up at the Help Desk and attempt to run that.  Hey Chris, if you are reading this, I have something as tribute to give you.  Maybe all will be forgiven?

Stuff talked about:

  • Props and puppets, I forgot the name of Jeff Dunham
  • I tell my favorite Chris Hardwick joke BADLY (But do watch his special on Comedy Central!!!)
  • The nature of comedy
  • The advantages of editing and not being lazy
  • Larry Miller is still not back

Episode 33: Taking my talents to Germany

Taking my talents to Germany: The decision.

Sadly I did not realize that since this is episode 33, I could have made the following joke: If my podcast were Tom Cruise I would now have to divorce it.  Thank you to OMG (Oh Matt Grandis).

What’s up with me? or What’s Wrong with me?

  1. I’m heading to Germany from July 4-22nd.  I will be releasing podcasts when I’m there. I’ll get to use my snowball mic that I’ve had forever.
  2. I beat Diablo 3 on normal!  W00t! Yes it took me a while but we did it! I carried the group….for once!!

Joke of the week

Around the Pods

  1. Adam Carolla had LeVar Burton.  There wasn’t much of a conversation with LaVar except for about Roots and Reading Rainbow.  They talked a bit about how he got into acting and how he got his first role in roots at the age of 19.  I hope LaVar is on Nerdist.  I would expect a more in depth conversation.  It is a mystery as to why Lavar called up Adam and told him to cut it out. Not a necessary episode if you are looking for some Lavar entertainment
  2. Nerdist has Billy West and John Dimaggio
    1. Billy west was recently on Adam Carolla: http://www.adamcarolla.com/billy-west/ This was so funny.  The interaction between Billy and Adam is priceless.  Worth the download.
    2. Billy West was on Rob Paulsen’s Talkin’ Toons #19 http://robpaulsenlive.com/episode-18-of-robs-weekly-podcast-is-out/
    3. Billy West was on an early Nerdist #49 http://www.nerdist.com/2010/12/nerdist-podcast-49-billy-west-not-ready-for-publication-yet/
    4. John Dimaggio was on the latest Rob Paulsen’s Talkin’ Toons #47 http://robpaulsenlive.com/episode-47-guest-john-dimaggio/

I’ll be ending with a word from Larry Miller himself.  It was good to hear from him.  The sad part is that it sounds as if he’ll be out for a while.  In the mean time please please please go and subscribe the This Week with Larry Miller.  His stories are great! He is funny and delightful.  Larry, I’m glad to hear that you are doing well.  I miss you and I love you!

In this episode I will talk about:

  • Larry J. Miller! He was on an episode of "You Made it Weird" He also has his weekly podcast called "This Week with Larry Miller." He had a bad accident the other week. He is expected to fully recover. But they did re-post an episode this week. It is a good episode so go take a listen. But get well soon!!!!
  • My podcast is the red headed step child if Nerdist got it on with This week with Larry Miller and enjoyed a burrito afterwards. Now that’s an image. Ok, this is only in my dreams but maybe one day? I’ll be funny and inspirational but hopefully not bald. mmm…I’m going with silly with a touch of whimsy. Clearly I miss but…gotta keep trying.
  • It has been a tough week for everyone so I want to look at the positive stuff that happened.
  • I totally am not upset about being stood up by Nerdist for the 4th time. They did eventually reschedule but I’m really irritated. I do understand
  • Kickstarter is awesome. Both the projects I backed got funded! I donated to the Inspector Spacetime project. Also the Zack meets the Zombie book got funded!! It was tense there for a while.
  • I friended Ron Paulsen on FB. Honestly I rather he follow my twitter. I do more funny stuff there. NARF!
  • Recommendations of the week: Check out Scott Sigler on Nerdist! I’ve been following him on and off since 2005. If you like him then might I recommend Mark Yoshimoto Nemcoff . His stories are really cool. I would also recommend Mike Bennett “One Among the Sleepless” is soooo good!!

I end the podcast by attempting Larry Miller’s brilliant pod closer

Thank you for listening.  Seize YOUR burrito!
